Dillon, Colorado.

Dillon, located on the shores of its namesake, Lake Dillon, is the one town in Summit County that is not based on winter activity. Although it is in close proximity to the ski resorts, Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, and Arapahoe Basin, this town heats up when the snow and ice start to melt. I love the bustling summer activity in the town and take advantage of the free concerts at the open-air amphitheatre, weekly farmers markets, and the lakefront. Whether you own your own watercraft or rent one from the Marina, be sure to spend a day or more on the water. Sailboats, paddleboats, pontoon boats, and canoes dot the lake that reflects the snow-covered mountains surrounding it.

Fishermen enjoy the abundance of trout in the waters and the peaceful tranquility of a mild summer day. When the sun starts to set the fun, more than often, heads to the shores and the tiki-bar. These differences from the rest of the county are what make Dillon one of my favorite places around Breckenridge. Visit this summer paradise while on your next visit to Summit County.
