Celebrating the Fourth of July in Breckenridge

Breckenridge is a great place to visit or live anytime of the year but there are a few events that take place throughout the year that add to the special ambiance that makes Breckenridge the town it is. Ullr Fest in January, Spring Massive in April, and the Lighting of Breckenridge in December all stand out to make this town a special place to be. My favorite event is the Fourth of July celebration.

The summer weather is perfect for a day of outside barbeques, walking around town, meeting and greeting, and enjoying the beautiful sights of Breckenridge. Warm, dry, not too hot and not too cold, the weather adds to the thrill of the day. The weekend leading up to the 4th of July is full of entertainment, activities, and family fun. The Breckenridge July Art Festival is always great to attend, as there is usually a grand celebration in the Arts District between Ridge and Main Street.

On the 4th, start of the day with the "Firecracker 50", a bike race that starts on Main Street and kicks off the town parade. Activities and music follow throughout town as the celebrations continue. Restaurants and bars have entertainment and specials throughout the day and night. Join the National Repertory Orchestra in the Riverwalk Center as the sun goes down for a free holiday concert followed by a spectacular fireworks display. Most people will tell you that summer in Breckenridge is their favorite time of the year and the Fourth of July celebration is the pinnacle of all that makes it so. The spirit of the town is felt in the celebration of our nation's birthday. Join us this year to see why the 4th of July is my favorite event in Breckenridge.
